Inside my hotel room Champéry Switzerland

A traditional Swiss stay at the Le Chalet de l’Atelier Champery

They say ‘You leave the best to last’ and this was definitely true when I stayed at Le Chalet de l’Atelier Champery Switzerland. It was my last stop during my ski safari across France and Switzerland skiing through the Portes du Soleil area.

After continuously skiing for 10 days straight, I was exhausted and was looking forward to my 4-day stay. Not just because it was a beautiful Chalet but I love all things Swiss, so I knew that everything would be pretty much perfect to end an amazing press trip.

I was greeted by the manager when I arrived who was warm and friendly and took me to my room. My room looked exactly like the pictures and the view outside the window just took my breath away. I could see why so many people come and never leave.

The Chalet

Situated in the centre of Champery at the foot of the Dents du Midi and within 1 mi of the Croix de Culet Cable Car, the chalet is in an ideal location. Whether you are skiing or enjoying a summer holiday hiking in the mountains, Le Chalet de l’Atelier  Champery is the place to stay.

There are only 4 rooms in the chalet hotel and it has two restaurants, The Lounge Bar and the L’Atelier Gourmand.  The Lounge Bar serves cocktails and tapas and the L’Atelier Gourmand serves a Gastronomy menu, considered to be one of the best in town.

You can really appreciate the attention to detail in the chalet and the personal touches from individually naming each room and to having skis mounted on the walls in the lounge bar to give it that warm cosy feel.

The Lounge Bar

The Lounge Bar is situated just inside Le Chalet de l’Atelier and on the same floor as the gastronomy restaurant. As well as serving cocktails and tapas, they also served fresh coffee. and tea. I spent a bit of time in here relaxing and just taking in the atmosphere after skiing.

This is an ideal place to relax after a hard day of skiing and hiking or pre-dinner drinks. I love how they have kept the cosy chalet feel from the bedrooms with the decor, the skis on the walls and the deer pillows on the couches.

There is also a private room, the Carnotzet, that you can hire out and they will organise a group meal, depending on what is required.

About the Room

There are only 4 rooms in the chalet and they are all individually decorated and designed to maximise space. Each room comes with a large flat-screen cable TV, a safe, coffee machine, dock Speakers and a private bathroom with a shower.  One of the rooms also comes with a separate living area and a spa bath.

l had a lovely room called the ‘Chef Room’ with views of the mountains from two of the windows. The room was incredibly spacious and had a sofa bed to allow an additional two people to share the room (it can sleep up to 4 people). It was light, modern and contained everything you would need for that perfect ski or hiking trip. You were given fresh sheets and towels every day, as well as bottles of water.

My bathroom was also designed to maximise space with a large shower and basin. It was equipped with a hair dryer and complimentary toiletries.

The room had Free-Wifi that worked really well and a working desk, perfect for when working and travelling.

The bed was it super comfortable and I could have easily stayed in it all day. But, you had the most incredible views looking up at the mountains from my the bed.

How to get there & Location

Situated in the centre of Champery at the foot of the Dents du Midi and within 5 minutes walk from the Champery-Croix de Culet Cable Car, Le Chalet de l’Atelier is at one of the finest locations in the village resort.

The closest international airports are Geneva Airport, Chambéry-Savoie or Bern-Belp and the best way to get to Champery is either via transfer, bus or car.

Alternatively, you can catch a train to Troistorrents Train Station or Champery train station and then catch a bus or taxi. Both are not too far away from the Chalet.

  • If you are skiing, there is an outside room where you can leave your equipment that is locked with your room key.
  • Definitely, eat at the Le Nord Cafe restaurant Le Nord Cafe restaurant the Le Chalet de l’Atelier , as it has great food and wine. I recommend booking as it only has two sitting times 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
  • One child 3 years old or younger stays free when occupying the parent or guardian’s room, using existing bedding.
  • There is a little courtesy train that goes from the main gondola the Croix de Culet Cable Car and drops you off at the front of the hotel.

Would I recommend it

If you are looking for a traditional Swiss chalet, with amazing food, centrally located and good customer service. Then Le Chalet de l’Atelier is the place for you. I loved everything about it, to the point that I didn’t want to leave my room. The bed was super comfy, the room was beautiful. Not to mention those amazing views out my window of the mountains.

The wifi was strong too (something I live on as a blogger) and their food was pretty good too.

Yes, I would recommend it and not because I was invited. From the moment I arrived until the moment I left, everything was great. From the comfy of the bed, the decor to the service in the hotel, I enjoyed it all.

Additional Information

  • Price Range:   Medium/High
  • Wifi:  Yes and it is strong in areas of the chalet, especially in the rooms
  • Breakfast:  At an additional cost CHF 14 for adults and CHF 14 for children (approximately). You can have a continental breakfast.

What gorgeous views! This is definitely a place I would love to stay in. I don’t think I’d want to leave the room either, though those views and mountains do look inviting.

I stayed in one night to enjoy the room the rest of the time, I was out enjoying the mountain and the food. The views are definitely stunning and I was awe for sure 🙂

Whoa you sold me on the view alone! That’s crazy there are only 4 rooms too! I love that intimate feel to a small place, especially tucked away in the mountains like that!

  6. Claire Summers says:

This place looks incredible! I wish I enjoyed skiing. I love the idea of a skiing holiday but I just hate the cold too much. My sister lived in the French Alps and I always visit in the summer haha.

This looks amazing, fancy yet super cozy and homey as well! I can see myself never leaving if I go there as well haha! Wow and skiing for ten days straight! Learning how to ski is on my bucket list and this Chalet is a definite go-to! Thanks for sharing 🙂

What a beautiful chalet in Switzerland! I love that picture of you sitting in bed – somehow it left me longing for winter and ski holidays. And Champery looks like a nice place to check out, for sure!
I’m checking their website, maybe they have good hiking trails for the summer too. We love hiking in Switzerland!

    • melbtravel says:

I used a timer on my phone to take that picture when I was playing around in the bedroom. My husband reckons I looked like a smurf…Apparently, they have great hiking trails, I can’t wait to see it in the summer.

  9. Tania Mukherjee says:

I can safely say you are a pro at skiing, who else can pull off a straight 10 day skiing itinerary! Naming of the rooms sounds something really cute and adds the personal touch. I liked the decor of the hotel and the deer themed pillows, not to mention the breathtaking location!

This looks like an absolutely beautiful location. I can see why it was your favorite. The chalet looks super cozy and rustic in the best way!

  11. Jean says:

This looks like my kinda adventure. The courtesy train is utterly adorable. Though nowhere near as adorable as that room. So comfy and cosy.

This looks so comfy and cosy and just how I expected traditional Swiss places to be. The view is amazing and the food looks so good. You are so lucky you go to stay there. I would love to stay there at some point 😀

This place (and your whole trips frankly) looks amazing! I’ve staying the the Swiss Alps and loved it, though it wasn’t ski season, so I’ve been dreaming of returning

    • melbtravel says:

Thank you so much, I am looking forward to returning this summer to do some hiking. I am so used to seeing places covered in snow that it will be a nice change to see it without snow.

  14. Kim says:

Ten days of continuous skiing sounds amazing! I love all the little details Le Chalet de l’Atelier Champery put into their interior design. Seems like the perfect place to end your epic ski safari!

  15. Samantha Elisabeth says:

Oh my word, this place looks so charming! I love how close it is to the cable cars. Also, a ski safari sounds like so much fun! I need to get back into skiing. I quit when I was a teenager because God forbid we broke a leg in the middle of swim season, and I just haven’t gotten back into it yet!

  16. Arnav Mathur says:

Love the cozy and well thought decor of the chalet. This place is definitely a must stay place when in the region. Am going to follow your guidance, and keep this place on the last days (to enjoy the most) during my winter ski trip to the area.

  17. Whitney aka Mrs. Millennial says:

Wow! These views are incredible. I also love the way they use wood to decorate. Thank you for sharing!

  18. Mel says:

Looks like such a cute place to stay! We are looking for somewhere to stay in that area this summer, so I will definitely check this out. I love the decor and how Swiss everything is.

  19. Cat says:

This looks like such a cozy place to stay! And the surrounding mountain scenery is simply gorgeous! Even though I don’t ski, I would still love to stay there!

    • melbtravel says:

You can definitely stay here even if you don’t ski, there is so much to do. It is opened in the summer too, so you can eat cheese and go hiking.

  20. Iza Abao says:

The chalet looks cozy and beautifully decorated. I like the Lounge bar a lot. The pieces of furniture are fancy and chic. The deer pillows are cute. The food looks delicious. Are those slices of bacon on top of the dish?

  21. Veronica P. says:

I am not into skiing or snowboarding, but I love the lifestyle. Give me a Chalet, a fireplace, wine, cheese, beautiful view over the snowy mountains and 10 minutes to pack 🙂

  22. Paulina says:

Wow this chalet looks amazing. And I am not even mentioning the view. The food must have been lovely too… as usual in the Alps. I would definitely love to visit Le Chalet de l’Atelier Champery .

  23. yukti says:

Beautiful chalet in Swiss Apls. Perfectly working free WiFi is great to have it in between mountains because sometimes in natural places Wi-Fi service is very poor. After a day long skiing Le Nord Cafe is a place must wanted to have a drink.

    • melbtravel says:

That is so very true, when I look for somewhere to stay I always check the reviews about the wifi especially, as it is my job to be on the internet. Definitely recommond the place though

  24. Ami says:

It does look like a lovely resort – warm and cosy. I am glad that you found what you had seen. A lot of resorts just add nice pics but are not as well maintained. Adds to so much of disappointment.

  25. James says:

Le Chalet de l’Atelier in Champery looks like a wonderful accommodation, I’m not sure if I could pronounce the name though! The Lounge Bar sounds perfect for a coffee or even a cocktail. The room looks perfect and the cover on the bed is quite unique, I like how they have a desk for those of us who need to work whilst away. I’m not sure I’d find time to go skiing, I think I’d be too busy enjoying the facilities of the chalet!

    • melbtravel says:

Lol, don’t worry I could not say the name at first either 🙂 I still struggle to be honest. I am going back in a weeks time and I am looking forward to it.

  26. Global Girl Travels says:

This place can’t be real. All of the things you described about this chalet sounded like the stuff of paradise. I love the views and to have that from your room would be amazing! I want to stay here.. hopefully soon I could!

  27. Fillia says:

10 days skiing, that is cool… and cold. Lol.
I really want to try skiing, haven’t done it. I wanna see proper snow…

    • melbtravel says:

It was not very cold at all, as it was in March and it was spring skier so lots of sun 🙂 It is an amazing place though and looking forward to heading back next week for the summer program.

  28. Raghav says:

This is just marvelous. As it is the Swiss really know how to treat their guests, and the location of Le Chalet along with the coziness and comfort all add up for what I can only imagine as a spectacular stay. I can understand your dilemma though that when the hotel room is so amazing that you don’t want to leave it. The things we give up to travel…lol
