I love using my Casio Protrek Smart Watch WSD F20 for outdoor adventures, especially hiking and bike riding. My only problem that I have is keeping away from my husband, who always seems to be eyeing it up. Smart, sophisticated, eye-catching and extremely durable, Casio’s Protrek Smart Watch series with Android Wear is a must-have. Especially for any outdoor adventure lover looking for a powerful, multi-purpose smartwatch.

Not only does it look good but also works like a charm during your outdoor pursuits.

Would I recommend Casio Protrek Smart Watch

As an Android user, there is a lot that I like about the Casio Protrek Smart Watch WSD F20 connecting to my smartphone. It’s fast, responsive and very feature-rich. From an outdoor adventure tracking perspective, I think it is great especially when pairing it with the view ranger app.

The built-in software is detailed and works well when actively tracking activity like hiking, kayaking or even skiing.

The only downside that I see is that the battery requires charging every 1 to 2 days. While this may be ok for some, it does not help if you are wanting to take extreme challenges like Everest Base Camp or Three Peaks Challenge.

The plus side is that it is an attractive looking watch with dual-layer screen technology, is innovative and certainly makes a lasting impression. I love the big screen and that you are able to download hiking routes and ski piste maps. I have to admit that it has definitely caught the attention of other people when I have been wearing it.

Remember you can check out the whole range of  Casio watches before your next adventure.

Sounds like a handy watch indeed, unfortunately I don’t wear watches because they just stop working. It would be a great gift for an adventurous person. Something to keep in mind

  10. Megan Indoe says:

Great review! Seems like a great active/outdoor watch. I think it’s a little too big for my wrist but it is something my husband could wear! You have a great point about the watch having to be charged every 1-2 days. That’s tough in some destinations or for some adventures.

  11. Coralie Grassin says:

Wow, that’s quite the James Bond watch. Thank you for the detailed review – perfect for techs like me!

  12. Candy says:

Such an amazing smart watch! Its features are definitely super hi-tech and the design is awesome. I can see why your husband keeps eyeing it 🙂

  13. Sarah Kim says:

Wow this is really a great watch for outdoors! I love all the features on it, but the thing that makes me say YES is the water resistant feature up to 50 meters. Then I won’t have to worry about it simply raining or if I go into the water without taking it off. Good to know. Thanks for sharing.

  14. Mimi & Mitch says:

Oh wow didn’t know that watch had those cool capabilities! We are so used to fitness watches that forget there are these type of ones more for adventure and outdoors! We would love to have one now!

    • Melbtravel says:

I use my smartphone for fitness and I thought about getting a fitness watch but then I get the casio on a press trip and now I won’t get back as I just love it.

  15. Katie says:

Wow it seems like it has everything! I love that it has the app so that you can use it with maps (I always get lost so I always need a map handy lol)!

  16. Keoshia says:

Great post what a cool watch, I hardly do any hiking or outdoors climbing, but it seems like it can do the job very well! As for the battery life, can you take one of those cell phone charger to charge while you are out, does it use USB?

  17. Vibeke Johannessen says:

That is such a cool and handy watch. I’m such a typical millennial where I only use my phone as a watch lol. I know see the benefits to have a proper watch for hiking, without picking up your phone all the time, can be cold too hehe. I would definitely consider getting this watch. Thank you for letting me know about it 😀

    • Melbtravel says:

They only thing that this phone seems not be able to do is take pictures 🙂 Don’t worry I use to use my phone too but feel naked if I don’t have my watch hon.

  18. Tara says:

Looks like the Casio has a lot of cool features for the outdoor-lover. It’s a bit too big for me I think, and I would never remember to change the battery, but I’m sure it would make a great gift for techies who love the outdoors.

  19. Agness of Fit Travelling says:

Wow! This seems like an awesome gadget to have, Melb! As an adventure aficionado, this is a must-have for me. Thanks for the suggestion. 😉
