Casio WSD-F20 review: Tracking and software
The Casio’s Protrek Smart Watch WSD F20 virtually has everything you need to track your outdoor adventures. It is useful enough that you don’t want to download extra Apps (apart from the Viewranger App that should be already on there). To start tracking, simply go to the Activity screen and then swipe across to the relevant activity.

l tested the watch with the Casio marketing team kayaking on Lake Windermere and hiking up Helm Crag in the Lakes District England. Once, I got the hang of the watch and used the various screens, I really enjoyed tracking my movements.
The information displayed on screen altered depending on the different activities and you could track every movement. When we were kayaking, I could see where I went and how long I went for.

Casio & View Ranger Work Together
Casio Protrek Smart Watch series is a superior Android Wear watch that is pre-installed with the multi-purpose ViewRanger App, catering especially to individuals who love the outdoors. Would I recommend Casio Protrek Smart Watch
As an Android user, there is a lot that I like about the Casio Protrek Smart Watch WSD F20 connecting to my smartphone. It’s fast, responsive and very feature-rich. From an outdoor adventure tracking perspective, I think it is great especially when pairing it with the view ranger app.
The built-in software is detailed and works well when actively tracking activity like hiking, kayaking or even skiing.

The only downside that I see is that the battery requires charging every 1 to 2 days. While this may be ok for some, it does not help if you are wanting to take extreme challenges like Everest Base Camp or Three Peaks Challenge.
The plus side is that it is an attractive looking watch with dual-layer screen technology, is innovative and certainly makes a lasting impression. I love the big screen and that you are able to download hiking routes and ski piste maps. I have to admit that it has definitely caught the attention of other people when I have been wearing it.
Remember you can check out the whole range of Casio watches before your next adventure.

What a cool looking watch that is something my husband would love. Glad to know a girl can wear it too
Thank you very much, I definitely recommend it. My husband is always trying to take mine.
I have been looking for a watch that I use l could use for most outdoor activities. This is a cool looking watch
I love the watch and I do like showing it off.
Wow, I guess this has to be a must – have watch for travellers. Really happy it has GPS system to help us out while exploring cities and countries.
This is a definite must have. I love the watch
I have to admit, I haven’t worn a watch in decades (literally!). However this product appears to be perfect for an outdoor adventure and I am floored by all the amazing capabilities it has. Will keep this in mind as we plan our travels! Thanks.
This is a great watch and I have to admit I didn’t wear a watch either till now. My husband keeps asking me for it 🙂
I have been looking for a new outdoors watch for a while now & this seems to have everything l need. I like you can download maps & track yourself.
Great to hear, definitely check it out. I am tracking where I have been.
Oh my husband would love this for Christmas for his hiking.l will definitely have to show him. I like it to but I don’t wear l would wear it.
This would definitely be a great gift
I have seen Casio analog watches and they are quite respected. I’m seeing the Smartwatch for the first time. I need to try it out.
It is a great watch and yes you will need to check it out for sure
This is such an amazing watch, with awesome qualities, I think I should get this as a gift for myself for Christmas. I am in love with it already!
I love it and I can’t wait to use it skiing this season. It definitely attracts attention when I have it on 🙂
This watch looks incredible! What a great gift for the holidays!
Thanks and I agree it is a great gift
Wow, I really love traveling and going outdoors so this would be a perfect watch for me. Unfortunately I just got a new one. But I will definitely keep this in mind for future purchases! Awesome review btw!
This is great because you don’t have to have wifi to use the gps. I can’t wait to use it skiing this season
Sounds like a handy watch indeed, unfortunately I don’t wear watches because they just stop working. It would be a great gift for an adventurous person. Something to keep in mind
This works on being recharged and not batteries 🙂 Definitely keep in mind for a gift 🙂
Nice watch and great info. Definitely keen especially for the outdoor tracking features.
Need any tips, definitely drop me a line I am happy to help
Great review! Seems like a great active/outdoor watch. I think it’s a little too big for my wrist but it is something my husband could wear! You have a great point about the watch having to be charged every 1-2 days. That’s tough in some destinations or for some adventures.
I have tiny wrists but when I explain why it is so big then people realised. My husband always says its to big for me so he should have it 🙂
This does look very cool. I know I would enjoy having a watch like this for hikes. Just reminds me that I need to go out hiking more often.
I love hiking and I can’t wait to wear it skiing this season 🙂 I do think it is more of a boys toy
Wow, that’s quite the James Bond watch. Thank you for the detailed review – perfect for techs like me!
I have not thought about it like that but that is so very true..
Such an amazing smart watch! Its features are definitely super hi-tech and the design is awesome. I can see why your husband keeps eyeing it 🙂
I have had the watch now for 6 months and I am still learning how to use it 🙂 Though my husband keeps informing me that he can teach me 🙂
Wow this is really a great watch for outdoors! I love all the features on it, but the thing that makes me say YES is the water resistant feature up to 50 meters. Then I won’t have to worry about it simply raining or if I go into the water without taking it off. Good to know. Thanks for sharing.
I love that it is waterproof as I am always getting wet 🙂 I am still trying to work at the emails etc on it but it is fun testing it out
Oh wow didn’t know that watch had those cool capabilities! We are so used to fitness watches that forget there are these type of ones more for adventure and outdoors! We would love to have one now!
I use my smartphone for fitness and I thought about getting a fitness watch but then I get the casio on a press trip and now I won’t get back as I just love it.
Wow it seems like it has everything! I love that it has the app so that you can use it with maps (I always get lost so I always need a map handy lol)!
lol, I am always using my google maps to find my way. I am looking forward to using it in the ski fields.
Great post what a cool watch, I hardly do any hiking or outdoors climbing, but it seems like it can do the job very well! As for the battery life, can you take one of those cell phone charger to charge while you are out, does it use USB?
You can use the watch for all sorts of cool activities, like kayaking. You are so right you can charge it on a portable charger 🙂
That is such a cool and handy watch. I’m such a typical millennial where I only use my phone as a watch lol. I know see the benefits to have a proper watch for hiking, without picking up your phone all the time, can be cold too hehe. I would definitely consider getting this watch. Thank you for letting me know about it 😀
They only thing that this phone seems not be able to do is take pictures 🙂 Don’t worry I use to use my phone too but feel naked if I don’t have my watch hon.
Looks like the Casio has a lot of cool features for the outdoor-lover. It’s a bit too big for me I think, and I would never remember to change the battery, but I’m sure it would make a great gift for techies who love the outdoors.
It is pretty big on arm and but I also don’t have it on all the time, only when I am outdoors exploring.
This watch has so many useful features for outdoor adventurers! The ability to sync with the phone makes it very appealing!
This definitely a fun watch to have and play with 🙂
It definitely sounds perfect for an adventurer like yourself! I guess you’ll be using all throughout the ski season too!
Wow! This seems like an awesome gadget to have, Melb! As an adventure aficionado, this is a must-have for me. Thanks for the suggestion. 😉
It is a really cool watch, I love playing around with it and I can’t wait to use it in the snow
